Notes:

This is another class of ships that falls into more than one area in the history of the RCN. They were originally launched during the Second World War as members of the RIVER class frigates. After the war, a total of twenty-one were modified into the escort as shown above. This included adding a bigger bridge, a taller funnel, new guns, and enclosing the quarterdeck to house two Squid ASW mortars. They then served into the late 1960s, with the exception of VICTORIAVILLE who served until 1973, although in a new role (diving tender) and under a new name (GRANBY). Another member of this class, BUCKINGHAM, was fitted with a temporary landing pad on the stern, and participated in some of the first helicopter trials in the RCN.
