Haze Gray Mystery Picture #152 Answer

 [MYSTERY IMAGE]

Can You Identify This Ship?

This is the Spanish predreadnought battleship Pelayo.

Completed in 1888, Pelayo carried an unusual armament of single 12.5" guns forward and aft, with two single 11" guns midships. She was the only Spanish battleship of this period, while the remainder of the Spanish navy was made up of heavily armed cruisers. Although she was reboilered in 1897, Pelayo did not participate in the Spanish-American war of 1898. Pelayo was again refitted in 1910, but was already long obsolete. By the 1920's she was reduced to duty as a gunnery training ship, and the old battleship was broken up in 1925.
