Haze Gray Mystery Picture #109 Answer

 [MYSTERY IMAGE]

Can You Identify This Ship?

This is the Japanese auxiliary Yudachi (ASU 7007), formerly a destroyer (DD 108).

Yudachi was a member of the Murasme (DD 107) class, among Japan's early post-WWII destroyers. They carried three 5"/54cal gun mounts which had been removed from the US Midway class carriers. These ships were the only surface combatants to carry this 5"/54cal gun, distinguished by an angular, flat-faced gunhouse. Although her sisters were refitted with the now-standard 12.75" torpedo tubes during the 1970's, Yudachi retained her original depth charges at the stern. She was reclassified as an auxiliary and renumbered in 1984, then stricken in 1987 and disposed of.
