Chame

Former name retained.


Chame, the former tug Riversdale, was taken over by the Commandant, 15th Naval District to form a part of the Canal Zone district defense force during World War I. Her period of service, from 1 February to 17 December 1918, was spent in the performance of duties of station ship, net guard, towing and transportation of cargo as well as minesweeping and patrol along the Atlantic coast of the Panama Canal Zone. She was returned to her owner on 31 December 1918.
