Sol Navis a twin screw troop transport built in 1919 by the Sun Shipbuilding Company, Chester, Pa., was delivered to the Navy on 7 July 1919. However, while the ship was being fitted out, she was transferred to the United States Shipping Board, on 22 October 1919, to the War Department for service as an Army transport.
