Eclipse

Eclipse (No. 417), [an] auxiliary schooner, was built by Bishops, Gloucester, Mass., in 1906; free leased to the Navy on 31 August 1917, and commissioned the same day, Lieutenant (junior grade) J. S. Thompson, USNRF, in command. Assigned to the 6th Naval District, Eclipse served as pilot and guard boat at Savannah, Ga., for the duration of World War I. She was returned to her owner on 6 January 1919.
