Andradite

Andradite is a variety of garnet.

Andradite (PYc-11) was built in 1927 as Comeco (later renamed Caronia) by Defoe Boat and Motor Works, Bay City, Mich. ; acquired by the Navy 16 March 1942 ; and commissioned 17 April 1942, Lieutenant (junior grade) A. J. Crabb, USNR, in command.

Andradite served in California waters on patrol, plane guard, and weather duties until 9 October 1945. Decommissioned 19 December 1945, she was transferred to the Maritime Commission 22 January 1947.
