Absaroka

Absaroka is a mountain range in Wyoming,

Absaroka (No. 2581), a cargo vessel, was launched 24 November 1917 by Skinner and Eddy Co., Seattle, Wash., under a Shipping Board contract; transferred to, the Navy 17 September 1918; and commissioned the same day, Lieutenant Commander 0. W. Hughes, USNR, incommand.

Between 22 October 1918 and February 1919, Absaroka made two trans-Atlantic voyages transporting Army cargo to Europe. During her second crossing she rescued the captain and crew of the disabled British steamer War Marvel.

Absaroka was returned to the Shipping Board 4 March 1919.
