Identity of man was later established as Thompson, James William, S2/c, 560-09-06, V-6, U.S.N.R. At 0124 began changing to planned bombardment course 000o P.G.C., speed 15 knots, adjusting course and speed to maintain position. 0127 Opened fire and 0136 ceased firing with main battery on shore objective.
