Canonicus

Canonicus , a chief of the Narragansett Indians, befriended Roger Williams, and presented him with a large tract of land for the Rhode Island colony.

The third Canonicus (YT-187) was placed in service 3 June 1941 and served in the 1st and 5th Naval Districts until transferred to the Maritime Commission for disposal 30 April 1947
