NEW ENGLAND The northeast section of the United States, comprising Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Submarine Tender AS-28 was reclassified destroyer tender AD-32 on 14 August 1944 and named NEW ENGLAND 2 September 1944. Laid down 1 October 1944 by Tampa SB Co., Inc., Tampa, Fla., NEW ENGLAND was to be launched 1 April 1946 and was to be sponsored by Mrs. Paul H.
